| Opinion: | The Yamaha V Max is a great cruiser/power bike. It has tremendous acceleration in a straight line and is fun to ride. When you have the need to pass someone you need not down-shift, just turn the throttle and your past. My bike is a 98 and is still like a new bike but that is because I have two bikes and split my time between them. The truth is I only ride when the weather is good but that is most of the time here in Southern Nevada. As far as handling the V Max is not the bike to get into a race on a curvy road with but except for feeling a little heavy in the front end it will get around the corners ok. If you have lots of room the acceleration will give you plenty of time to close the gaps and it is real smooth at high speeds in excess of 100 mph. So if you are looking for a fast cruiser and want a dependable machine I would recommend the V Max even though the bike has made very few changes since its birth in 1985. It was the fastest thing out then and it will run in the low elevens at 124 mph stock and even though are some faster sports bikes out there it is still the fastest cruiser around. |
