John McCain a new breed of politician
When President Clinton committed us to the war in Kosovo
Senator John McCain was the only Republican who supported the war. He put the welfare
of his country ahead of political gain, something rare for any politician.
He tells people what he thinks and not necessarily what they want to hear. Lumping the
radical left in with the radical right has made him very unpopular with a lot of people
on both ends of the political spectrum but sometimes the truth hurts.
Where John McCain has built his main constituency is with the moderate people of both parties
that use a little more logic in their thinking rather than their emotions. John McCain is a
reformer that wants to curb the power of special interests and attempt to return control of our
government to the people instead of the big money interests that now control it. He is not a
Republican or a Democrat, he is a reformer and he should be running on the Reform ticket. If he
is defeated in the March 7th primaries it would be the best thing that could happen to this
country because then his only recourse will be to go after the reform party nomination if he
wants to change the government. He is building a huge constituency during the primary process
from all sectors of the political spectrum and this could serve him well if he should decide to
run as a Reform party candidate.
His stated policies of tax reduction for the middle class, reduction of the national debt,
insuring social security, reviewing the war on drugs policy, closing tax loopholes for the big
corporations, and bringing some form of integrity into our government is something that all
Americans should be able to endorse. Even if it does not fit into their personal religious views
or political agenda it is what is right for our country.
I have been a Democrat all of my life and would have a difficult time supporting a Republican
John McCain but I would jettison my party in a heartbeat for a Reform party John McCain. It is
possible that there are many out there in both of the mainstream parties that feel the same as
myself who are looking for an alternative to our limited choices of candidates that seem to be
perpetuated by the radical elements of both parties.
Lets hope that John McCain gives us an alternative to the same old politics as usual.
